Lorsqu'on reçoit des anglophones à table, The A-Z of French Food est un petit dictionnaire vraiment pratique, mais il plaît tellement que je me sens obligé de l'offrir à mes invités. Et je m'en rachète un aussitôt !

J'utilise régulièrement les trois dictionnaires gastronomiques de Geneviève de Temmerman dans l'exercice de ma profession. Ce sont des ouvrages de référence d'une remarquable qualité.

J'avais déja acheté ce dictionnaire, mais je l'ai prêté. Et vu que c'est un ouvrage pratique et bien fait, on a oublié de me le rendre !!!

A must for dining in a French restaurant. Encountered this book in Martinique, provided by the restaurateur; found it invaluable in translating the menu, both nature of food and methods of preparation. Conveniently carried into a restaurant -- a fascinating read -- wanted to steal it, but honesty prevailed.

I bought this pocket guide 12 years ago direct from the publisher and have used it extensively in my travels in France (6 trips and while working there for 2 months). It has never failed! There are numerous things which you won't find in your pocket LaroUsse - you would need the whole 20 pound Grand Larousse to get this level of cuilinary info. I'm not just talking about the difference between riz (rice), veau (veal) and riz de veau (sweetbreads) - there is so much more in this little book. You get history and relevant quotes as well.

This small, very portable and completely comprehensive book makes eating out and buying food in France much clearer, and also provides an interesting foodie education.

Une perle à surveiller de près, ce petit dictionnaire. C'est la troisième fois qu'on subtilise mon exemplaire et que je le recommande. L'éditeur me fera-t-il un prix de gros pour ma quatrième commande ?

This dictionary is remarkably useful in restaurants in France. On a number of occasions, while we were in France, our waiters and captains commented that they owned a copy and found it essential to communicating with their English-speaking diners.

J'ai connu Scribo par le dictionnaire AZ of french food dont on m'a imposé l'achat au lycée pour mes etudes de la cuisine. Livre que j'ai malheureusement perdu et que je veux absolument posseder de nouveau, car vivant et travaillant en Irlande. Ce livre est un outil indispensable.
