A Gastronomic Adventure

A Gastronomic Adventure tells the story of a young French girl who lands her first job in a gastronomic restaurant in New York. Her adventures, at the same time touching and amusing, are a good introduction to an everyday English with a gourmet flavour: restaurant scenes including ordering your meal, menus, chefs’ secrets, truffles, and foie gras.

Over 60% of the words are similar in French and English. · From a selection of 100 francophones, self-declared “useless at English’’, on reading the story, 90% realised that they understood the plot. · The story on the CD, narrated by seven English and American actors, is a living introduction to modern English and its multiple accents.

• The second part of the book and the CD contains practical exercises of everyday situations, on the telephone, at the bank, etc.
  
• The third part of the book is dedicated to grammar ; the fourth part presents numbers.
  
• The glossary of the fifth part contains the vocabulary of the CD.
